How We've Advocated for You
Equal Pay for Equal Work
The Women’s Foundation of Montana is committed to gender pay equity in Montana and has worked closely with the Governor’s Equal Pay for Equal Work taskforce to address the gender wage gap in our state since 2013. WFM has helped host three Statewide Equal Pay Summits in collaboration with the taskforce and pushed for policy changes including a new Paycheck Fairness Act that would ban retaliation against workers for talking with one another about their pay and benefits.
WFM also supports
- Increasing Paid Family Leave for all Montanans.
- Increasing access to high-quality affordable childcare.
- Efforts to increase the number of women in higher-paid non-traditional fields and in leadership positions.
- Efforts to engage workplaces in creating more diverse and family-friendly workforces, that support women’s full participation in the labor market.
Cap the Rate Coalition
We are proud of our work to end predatory lending in Montana. Years of work on this issue along with a strong Cap the Rate Coalition culminated in 2010 in the passing of Ballot Initiative I-164, which effectively capped the short-term lending rates in the state at 36%.
